About the series
Black hides nothing. It only asks to be looked at more closely and for longer, until the weave of the fabric, the lines of the body, the tension in the hands and the expression on the face begin to come forward out of the dark. Light does not fill the space; it picks out fragments and leaves everything else outside of direct sight. The figure does not disappear in this darkness — on the contrary, his presence grows denser, heavier, almost physical.
Red is the only colour, and it breaks the strict monochrome of the frames. It appears as geometric metal objects that read at once as furniture, as stage sets and as signs. The colour can be taken as a warning, as a display of power, as the trace of an inner strain or of a hidden aggression. It does not explain what is happening; it only sharpens the sense that behind the outward composure there is something harsher and more restless.
Every photograph looks like a still from a film that never existed. The figure is already inside a story, but the viewer is not told what came before this moment or what follows it. His postures, his gestures and his gaze offer only fragments: waiting, control, exhaustion, resistance, readiness. Even when the body is still, the frame holds its tension, as if the scene went on past the edges of the image.

I deliver the retouched images at full size, plus versions for social media. The turnaround is seven days, usually noticeably sooner.
