About the series
Youth looks eternal only to someone who has not yet seen how quickly everything around him changes. The apple blossom promises a beginning: the world is full of possibility, the body knows no tiredness, and time feels like an endless supply. The young man touches the branches with an almost childlike bewilderment, as though meeting for the first time a beauty that does not exist for him and is under no obligation to last. The flowers surround him and already carry their own withering inside them — a quiet knowledge unavailable to anyone still certain of his own invulnerability.
Then the fruit appears. The apple becomes maturity, desire, experience and the first proof that every blooming has a price. It can be held, examined, tasted, taken — but it cannot be kept unchanged. Ripeness is a short summit between birth and breakdown. Everything that has reached fullness has already started moving towards disappearance, however perfect it still looks from outside.
The fruit darkens, shrivels and loses its shape, and the face stays exactly as it was. There is no victory over time in that constancy — only a detachment from its consequences. The young man watches the ruin without recognising his own fate in it. He seems exempt from the common law, and so he is unable to grasp either the value of the flowering or the tragedy of the loss. Beauty that never ages slowly turns from a gift into a form of blindness.

I deliver the retouched images at full size, plus versions for social media. The turnaround is seven days, usually noticeably sooner.
